Seasons matter
Jamaica is praised for its generally favorable weather, but that being said, visitor numbers differ from season to season. The winter period between December and April is commonly very busy, and it is highly likely that flight tickets and accommodation prices will be very high during this period.

Valentine’s Day and Christmas trips are best booked at least ten months in advance, as many people travel during this time. The off-season period of May to around late November is fairly quiet but this is probably due to the rainy weather and in some cases, tropical storms. It is also a time when many people are busy renovating, and so traveling might not be as worthwhile.

Understand the activities on offer
It is true that many people travel to the Island of Jamaica simply to unwind and take in the relaxing atmosphere, but that is not all that this paradise has to offer. Before visiting Jamaica, you can do some research on the many activities that are offered on the island and get an idea of what you want to do during your vacation.

There are many things to do such as horse riding, water sports, attending music festivals, visiting museums and national monuments, bob sledding and much much more. There are several places to visit on the Island of Jamaica, and each one will come with its own unique and enticing experience.

Be prepared
When traveling to any destination, it is always best to be as prepared as possible and make sure that you do not encounter any unnecessary inconveniences while on your trip. Here is a small list of things to keep in mind:

• Pack appropriately and adequately: from clothes to toiletries and first aid kits. In general, Jamaican weather is fairly warm, but a sweater or warm blanket might come in handy on a cooler day or night.
• Ensure you carry a little extra money for any emergencies so that you are not strapped for cash while on your trip.
• Make sure you have appropriate documentation: passport, proof of funding, vaccination report, pet documentation, etc.
• Take note of special customs and dress codes to ensure that you do not offend anyone while on your trip.
• Carry fully functioning electronics to help you maintain proper communication in case of emergency.

Jamaica is certainly worth traveling to if you have not done so yet. It should be noted that the island has a persistent mosquito problem and so a strong repellent (preferably suited for jungle insects) is recommended to make your trip as enjoyable as possible.
